"Cadillac Dave's CD "Checkin' On My Baby" is a cool as the cheshire cat chrome grill of a vintage DeVille. Rangy, rakish and rhythmical, it's the kind of music you want as your sound track as you swing your convertible down Michigan Avenue on a summer night, looking for excitement. The renditions are loyal to the original artists, expertly played with just enough whimsy to keep you entertained. You'll love it."

"Checkin' On My Baby" Liner Notes by Tim Steil

The debut release from Cadillac Dave and His Chicago Redhots

It was a piece of crap Sedan Deville handed down from his late grandmother that earned him the name. Foozling around Chicago's South Side, sitting in with legends such as Otis Rush, James Cotton and Junior Wells, the lanky white boy made quite an impression. One night, guitarist Buddy Guy was looking for his manager, and asked someone in his club, "Hey where's Frank? Is he out know...'Cadillac'? The name stuck (God help him had be been driving a Hyundai).

In the last decade Cadillac Dave and his Chicago Redhots have become staples on the Chicago blues scene, and Midwest circuit. Whether at the House of Blues, or a suburban club, their energetic performances have earned raves from both the press and fans alike. The late Walter Payton, who hired them to play at his nightclub introduced them this way, "When these guys get done playing, they go back to jail."

"Checkin on My Baby" is full of blues classics, the one's fans have been calling out for years. Though the band has plenty of original material, they decided on these songs as a tribute to both the legends of Chicago blues, and the fans that have been supporting them from the beginning.

Pour yourself a gin and juice, kick your feet up on the back stoop, and turn it up loud in case the el comes rumbling by. It's the sound of Chicago today.

Dear Redhot Fans,

This CD was done live in the studio to capture the true essence of the bands live show. It was a lot of fun to record and we have a lot of pride in the CD. It is an album of songs that personify Chicago Blues Music. On behalf of Big Ray Stewart, Rob LaDuke, Mike Wheeler, Melvin Robinson and Cadillac Dave...Enjoy!

Kind regards & long live the Blues,
Cadillac Dave
